The Sony Ericsson G700 is a mid-range smartphone in the Sony Ericsson G-series line-up. The 'G' in the model designation stands for 'Generation Web', a line-up of Web Enabled Mobile Phones.
The handset was announced by Sony Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress (formerly 3GSM congress) on February 10, 2008 at Barcelona Spain and is marketed as a touchscreen organizer alongside the more feature-rich G900. The phone is based from the Symbian OS 9.1 UIQ 3.0 platform with a number of interface enhancements like Touch Panel, Media Center, a touch-based music player, in addition to a renovated touch-operated camera interface. The phone houses 3G UMTS operating at 2100Mhz and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP. The more upscale features such as Wi-Fi, auto focus and a 5 megapixels camera are reserved for the G900.
